Safe modern camping in a tropical rural location.
What an adventure! Hope your journey is exciting.
You will be very welcome at the Oaxaca Campground. We are located 18 kilometers from downtown Oaxaca in a tropical, rural setting. Close to the colonial city center, Monte Alban, the weaving villages, Tlacalula’s Sunday market, Hierve El Agua’s petrified waterfall, mountain forests and so much more. All are an easy drive or bus ride from our location. Also within walking distance is a water park complete with Olympic size swimming pool.
The campground is gated and safe with level campsites, clean restrooms and hot showers. Free WiFi. Pets are welcome and petsitting available leaving you free to explore. Please note your pet(s) need to be leashed or contained. It can be a very long leash so let’s keep them safe.

Travelling east out of Oaxaca city, take the Pan American Hwy 190 towards Mitla. At 18 kilometers east of Oaxaca, just after you pass the bus stop and a pedestrian bridge marked Lachigoló, you will see a pink store on the left hand side. A sign of many colors above the store says ARCOIRIS. Turn left (north) at the Pink store. At the end of this road, there are signs that say "Oaxaca Campground" with a red arrow pointing left, "La Cabana del Patron" and "Rancho 5 Hermanos". Turn left here and continue a very short distance over a small yellow-railed "bridge" until you see the large, welcoming gates of Oaxaca Campground on the left hand side. (If you miss the turn off and see a Pemex station and a large commercial plaza called Los Higos 18.7 on the left, you will have gone too far. Turn left into the Pemex and travel back west on 190 for .7 of a kilometer.)
If you are travelling towards Oaxaca City from the east on the Pan American Highway 190, keep an eye on the mile markers. When you get close to the city (within 20 kms) you will see a Pemex station and a large commercial plaza called Los Higos 18.7. Travel .7 more kilometers where you will see a pink store on your right-hand side. A sign of many colors above the store says ARCOIRIS. Turn right here and continue a very short distance over a small yellow-railed "bridge" until you see the large, welcoming gates of Oaxaca Campground on the left hand side.
